Miller Harris’ Legato reminds me a lot of Bath & Body Works’ old school fruity, floral, gourmand scents, Be Joyful and A Thousand Wishes, which were launched in 2010 and 2014. I actually still have the mini glass bottles, with a little of the perfume left in them. These sizes used to be sold in the checkout area of the store. I know. I’m really showing my age here. Right?! I get the cherry—or more aptly—a deep, rich, almondy black cherry in Legato. The amber and the bourbon vanilla absolut? Not so much. Although there is no mention of it, I pick up on a dainty, light, and airy peony note that is more suitable for spring. Using a stronger floral, such as rose or jasmine, would’ve been more fitting for the cooler months, as well as increased the staying power of this fall scent.

Although the brand’s scents, Melody and L’Air de Rien, can be worn all year round, they’re perfect for spring. They’re so similar that I sprayed Melody on top of my wrist and L’Air de Rien below so I could tell the difference between the two. While both are powdery, Melody is more of a bright, sparkling citrusy floral that you would find in Burberry’s Blush, whereas L’Air de Rien is more of a subdued iris scent that you get in Crabtree & Evelyn’s Nantucket Briar Body Wash. It also reminds me of the aged, earthy scent of old paper and the subtle, musty air of an antique bookshop—the same one present in Bath & Body Works’ Book Loft Shower Gel, but without the dirty water smell you get halfway through using it.

Celadon and Mineir are great unisex scents. What I love about Celadon is that it’s unlike any other scent I’ve ever smelled. It has the watery, crisp, refreshing quality of celery, with a cedarwood note similar to the one found in Sidia’s Soaked Body Wash. With its prominent sage, eucalyptus, and mint, Mineir offers a more herbaceous and greener take on the classic Cool Water formula by Davidoff.

Unlike Bath & Body Works’ Dark Kiss, which also contains berries and musk, Rose Silence offers a striking contrast. It opens with an icy, dewy, almost aquatic note before mellowing into the rich, warm, and heady sweetness of a classic rose. Like many of you, I’ve been completely stumped on what to get for that one special family member. The solution arrived unexpectedly when I found out that it is now available as a body wash. The thrill of finding something so perfect was immense. This isn’t just a gift; it’s a piece of everyday luxury I know she’ll adore. As for me? Well, I might have to snag a bottle of this heavenly scent for myself to get into the holiday spirit. And you can bet I’ll be sharing a full review with you all later this winter!

Hydra Figue bears a strong resemblance to Skylar’s Salt Air. The shared notes of sea salt and wood (oakwood in Hydra Figue and driftwood in Salt Air) are reminiscent of the Bath & Body Works’ Fresh Water & Sea Salt 3-wick candle from 2015. Anytime I burned it, the soothing smell transported me to the ocean water at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland. The next time I use these, I think I’ll layer them. Another fun test would be to spray them directly above one another, much like I’ve done with Melody and L’Air de Rien, and report on their differences.

I’ve always wanted to own Miller Harris’ Scherzo Hand & Body Wash, but it’s hard to find and notably expensive. However, I was having a bad couple of weeks recently and it made sense to splurge on it. Although this purchase put me on a no-buy for the month, I’m glad I did. The body wash smells similar to the perfume, but in this formulation, the oud is much stronger, giving it a heavier, more tobacco-like scent. As a former smoker of 22 years, who still misses it sometimes, I’m all for this in my shower. The only thing I don’t like is that you have to unscrew the pump dispenser to get the body wash out. Once you get past that, the scent is out of this world, and a little goes a long way. For more on this and other fragrances from the brand, you can read my post, My Top 3 Miller Harris Perfumes.
