Shower Gel Showdown: Wild Sands vs. Pomegranate & Argan Oil

Bath & Body Works’ Wild Sand Shower Gel is in the same scent family as Crabtree & Evelyn’s Pomegranate & Argan Oil Shower Gel, which I like better. This superior body wash smells like a spicy and ripe pomegranate and the argan oil in the formulation feels divine on the skin. Don’t get me wrong, the aloe in Bath & Body Works’ Wild Sand Shower Gel feels wonderful on the skin. It’s just that the argan oil in Crabtree & Evelyn’s Pomegranate Shower Gel feels silkier on the skin and thus helps create more of a spa-like experience when using it in the shower.

Although pomegranate isn’t present in Wild Sand, that’s mainly the scent I get. I do get a bit of a putrid smell of spoiled pears until it settles into the actual scent and then it smells like a pomegranate. While there’s no musk in this, there is a bit of a warm, sweet, and elegant note that is very similar to the musk in Ariana Grande’s Cloud Eau De Parfum. This is most likely the natural sweetener, agave nectar. This scent isn’t for everyone. It’s very strong. That’s why I just have it in the body wash. One of the great things about the scents of Bath & Body Works’ shower gels is that they are very present on the skin long after your shower. If you like overpowering scents, then this one is for you and you may only need one spray of it in the perfume. Seriously, that’s how strong it is. A female passenger was wearing it on the trolley recently in Alexandria, Virginia and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Wild Sand also comes in a larger bottle than Crabtree & Evelyn’s Pomegranate & Argan Oil Shower Gel. So you get more product out of it. Here is the purchasing information for it: Bath & Body Works’ Wild Sand Shower Gel10 oz, $29.25 at Walmart.

If it came down to getting one over the other, I’d go with Crabtree & Evelyn’s Pomegranate & Argan Oil Shower Gel. Although it’s a smaller size than Bath & Body Works’ Wild Sand Shower Gel, it is a better product overall and cheaper too. Like Bath & Body Works’ shower gels, the scents of Crabtree & Evelyn’s shower gels linger on the skin well after your shower. Although it’s not as strong as Wild Sand, it’s still a very present scent. You can buy it here: Crabtree & Evelyn’s Pomegranate & Argan Oil Shower Gel, 8.4 oz, $21 at Walmart.
