Seductive Scents: Elie Tahari’s Midnight Orchid and French Kiss

If there’s one thing you know about me by now, it’s that I love my body wash and scrub. For some people, meditation takes them to their happy place. For me, it’s the scent and feel of a great body wash and scrub in the shower that take me to my zen place.

Last summer, I fell in love with Tahari’s Midnight Orchid Gentle Body Scrub. The spicy scent makes you feel like you’re at a Middle Eastern bazaar. It also reminds me of Bath & Body Works’ Dark Kiss fragrance, without being too heavy and cloying. The texture is also very tasty looking. It resembles chocolate mousse. The formulation is akin to body lotion with exfoliating grains that look like coffee grounds. My only issues with it are that the darker color makes a mess in the shower and it has trouble staying on the skin when you’re using it. The osmanthus in this is lighter and brighter than the breathtaking way L’Occitane makes the Asian flower. This scent was so magnificent that I bought the eau de parfum of it later on in the summer when it was on sale at T.J. Maxx. I’m less fond of the second scent, French Kiss. It’s still very good though. This spring scent is a slightly inferior version of both of the eau de toilettes of Chanel’s Chance Eau Tendre and Versace’s Bright Crystal. This clean and soapy smelling floral is also very light, airy, whimsical, and feminine. The fragrance is indicative of a responsible young woman who is relieved that school will be out soon and summer is approaching. The plusses of this body scrub are that it stays on the skin better than the Midnight Orchid one and the lighter color of it makes much less of a mess too. Bath & Body Works’ Body Washes Worth Splurging On

Robert Forster and Alisson Wood Look Back in Their Memoirs

Right from the beginning, you’re basically dreading the untimely death of one of the lead singers of the group, Grant McLennan, from alcoholism. It’s not easy being a musician and the book captures this very well, especially if you’re more on the sensitive side and have depression, like Grant did. At the end of the day, he was too much of a people pleaser, whereas the other lead singer of the band and author of this book, Robert Forster, was more of an oddball and couldn’t care less what you thought of him and The Go-Betweens’ music.
